The British Colombia Regimental Drum Major Course (BCRDMC) was created for the purpose of carrying forward the traditions of the Regimental-style Drum Major. There are many styles of Drum Major throughout the world for leading many different types of bands. The BCRDMC focuses exclusively on the traditional Scottish Regimental Military style for the purposes of leading bagpipe and drum bands. The aim of the course is to enable those who are new to Drum Majoring or have had little or no instruction on how to carry out the role of Drum Major, as well as those experienced Drum Majors who would like to brush up or perfect their current skills.
The Drum Major course takes place over five days in mid-May each year in beautiful Victoria British Columbia, Canada. The course is held at the historic Bay Street Armoury, home to the Canadian Scottish Regiment.
The course runs the week of the Victoria Highland Games, and course participants are highly encouraged to stay through the weekend, enjoy the games, and even compete in the Regimental Drum Major Competition on both Saturday and Sunday.
